Relex, also known by its Lovecraftian name "R'lyeh", is a twistedly nightmarish homeworld to the Old Ones and Ichthultu. It is one of many well-known locations in the animated series Justice League.
Overview
The otherwordly dimension R'lyeh, also known as Relex, is the also nightmarish "city" of Ichthulhu and his race, the Old Ones.
According to legends, it is believed to be underwater in the Earth's Pacific Ocean near the pole of inaccessibility, the farthest point away from land. In truth, R'lyeh is a dimension on the other side of the universe where they were banished to by King Poseidon of Atlantis when they invaded Earth in ancient times and attacked his homeland.
The landscape is riddled with a bizarre architecture that defies Euclidean geometry and the laws of physics. There are even tales and legends about the forbidden world of R'lyeh told by the people of Thanagar who knew its true name and whose civilization was also first ruled by both Ichtultu and the Old Ones millenia ago long before they no longer worshipped them and banished them from their planet. The Old Ones' homeworld Relex is told by Thanagarians as nothing more then a mere scary fairytale to frighten their children.

After fissures began to appear and a rift between dimensions begins to break, the Old Ones escaped R'lyeh and invaded Earth once again. Dr. Fate and Aquaman formed an alliance to use Solomon Grundy to reseal R'lyeh again. However, the Justice League arrived and demanded answers to the strange outbreaks of beasts.
After adopting a more daring plan to counteract the Old Ones' recent attacks against modern day Earth, the rag tag unit of 5 Justice League members (Superman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Doctor Fate, and Aquaman) joined by the undead Solomon Grundy ventured into Relex to defeat Icthulhu once and for all. Solomon Grundy confronted Icthulhu and weakened him from the inside enough for Hawkgirl to kill it. At the same time, the hordes of Old Ones retreated back into the dimension away from Aquaman. Aquaman, Superman, and Wonder Woman then resealed Relex from the inside forever.
