The Mount Massive Asylum for the Criminally Insane, also known as the Mount Massive Asylum, is an insane asylum located within the remote mountains of Lake County in Colorado, USA, and it is the setting of the horror videogame Outlast and it's sequel Outlast: Whistleblower.

Due to illegal experiments performed on patients, Mount Massive Asylum was then taken by the very prisoners residing there. There was chaos at the asylum as it became a bloody massacre. Hundreds of serial killers, rapists, the mentally ill, pyromaniacs, psychopaths, cannibals and other worst kind of human beings imaginable were loose inside the mental institution. There was blood, flesh, screams, corpses everywhere, as the Mount Massive Asylum has became hell on Earth after the inmates' uprising and the carnage it caused, no one knows what happened inside the asylum after the army stormed the venue.
