|“||Well, the Parasite Spell is a rather nasty piece of business. It originated in Haiti, if memory serves. It enables one sorcerer steal the energy from another.||„|
|~ Maxim Horvath explaining the Parasite Spell.|
The Parasite Spell is a power-draining spell that, according to Maxim Horvath, originated somewhere within the Caribbean country of Haiti centuries ago. It serves as one of the most powerful spells in the 2010 Disney fantasy movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Many sorcerers, particularly Morganians included, use the Parasite Spell to steal life energy from other spell-casters to replenish their sorcery and/or to increase their powers.
UsageAs seen when Horvath steals energy from Drake Stone, a sorcerer uses their catalyst to absorb the energy from other sorcerers that they are used on. The Parasite Spell works via physical contact between a conjurer's catalyst (either an enchanted ring or a magic cane) and their desired victim. When the spell is being used, a glowing mass of webs composed of magical energy will emerge between the victim's body that having physical contact with the catalyst itself, shows that the victim's energy being absorbed. Once the Parasite Spell is finished, the victim falls into unconsciousness, and the mass web of energy will vanish.
The only known possible drawback of this energy-draining curse was the spell must be used via physical contact. Also, among the viewers, it is debatable on whether or not this spell is truly fatal on those it is used against.
Horvath used it on Drake Stone, effectively killing him and stealing his power and his Ring. Horvath also used the same spell on Abigail Williams and taken both her magic and her Necklace, after she had served her purpose, to free his sinister master, Morgana le Fay.
The Parasite Spell is featured in the 2010 Nintendo DS videogame adaptation of Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice and it was used Horvath on 4 certain Morganian spellcasters as well as dangerously on himself in order to combine his extracted energy with those of other sorcerers he has slain to open the Forbidden domain with the stolen catalysts as a conduit to give Morgana le Fay the time and power needed in casting The Rising.
